This years Juneteenth celebration had many events and activities across the city and surroundings communities. We chose two of the city's most popular events. The Virginia Union (VUU) Annual Juneteenth Gospel Concert hosted on the Barco-Stevens lawn at VUU. This show featured Hezekiah Walker, the great gospel legend Shirley Caesar, VUU Gospel choir and local groups. Afterwards, we visited the Midtown Green for the Juneteenth Jubilation festival honoring our freedom and black culture. There was live musical performances from Legacy Band and various radio personalities and local DJ Lonnie B. There was also a number of food trucks, craft vendors and community organization booths. Our highlight include Susie meeting our first female governor Abigail Spanberger!
